Solution:
Let x represent the first number and y the 2nd.
Since they must sum to 110, we have
 x + y = 110

And since one is 150% of the other we have
 x = 1.5y

substitute for x in the first equation and we get

1.5y + y = 110  or 2.5y = 110  or  y = 44

After that it's simple x + 44 = 110  so  x = 66
